first_imgPitcher of the Week: Hayden Wesneski, Sam Houston State – So. – Right Handed – Cypress, TexasJust a night after a heartbreaking loss in the season opener versus Kent State, Wesneski gave the Kats just what they needed to even things up on Saturday. The sophomore allowed just four hits and one unearned run in a complete-game win over the Golden Flashes. He recorded 15 outs on the ground and did not allow a runner to reach third base until late in the ninth inning. Wesneski finished with a career-high eight strikeouts and did not walk or hit a batter. He needed just 97 pitches to finish off KSU in a game that lasted exactly two hours of game time. His lone run allowed happened with two outs in the ninth due to an error on a potential game-ending double-play ball.
