United Online will hire a successor to Hilliard. “Charles has been instrumental in the success we have achieved over the past eight years in building shareholder value and creating a world-class company at United Online,” Goldston said in the release. “He has been a key member of management throughout the company’s evolution.” Hilliard became senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer of NetZero in 1999. NetZero is the predecessor company to United Online. “With exciting prospects in content and media and a sound profitability strategy in its Communications segment, I believe the company is well positioned for the future,” Hilliard said in the release. Longtime United Online executive Charles S. Hilliard, currently president and chief financial officer, resigned on Wednesday, the company said. Hilliard will leave the company on May 31 to pursue an opportunity with a privately held Internet company. The resignation was announced in a press release and the company declined further comment, said Scott Matulis, vice president of corporate communications. Neil P. Edwards, currently the company’s senior vice president, finance, treasurer and chief accounting officer, was appointed interim chief financial officer effective June 1. last_img
