Apple cofounder says next Google or Facebook could be created in Greece

first_imgIn an interview with Athens-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA) on Tuesday, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak said the future of technology could be found in countries currently facing an economic crisis, and that the next Facebook or Google equivalents could very well emerge out of Greece.“Intelligent people are everywhere and the tools for software development are also available everywhere,” Wozniak said.“So of course the next company to create something in the communication sector, capable of conquering the world if it’s good, could be founded in countries such as Greece.”Could the concept for the next networking site come out of Greece? The statement has some weight. It was just last month that automaker Tesla announced they would be setting up a small research and development office in the Greek capital to tap into the country’s strong electric motor engineering talent, a number of which are already employed by Tesla abroad.Meanwhile Wozniak expressed that he was no longer afraid of the rapid progress in artificial intelligence, but said that challenges and issues are expected to rise between technology and society in the next decade, but expressed hope that “the world is wide open to correcting them”.
