The beta version of Opera 12 has arrived, and it’s no small update. Leading off a lengthy list of additions and subtractions is hardware acceleration support, something the Opera faithful have been waiting for ever since it arrived in Chrome, Firefox, and even Internet Explorer. It hasn’t been switched on by default yet, so you’ll need to toggle two values on the opera:config page. Once Opera 12 goes final, HWA will likely be defaulted. Two other key additions are native 64-bit support for both Windows and Mac and out-of-process plug-ins. Opera says the latter will lead to a more stable browsing experience, and that’s certainly been the case with Firefox since Mozilla introduced the same feature several versions ago. Additional web standards are supported now, too, including WebGL and WebRTC — which is aimed at bringing better voice and video communications capabilities to the web. As if the browser wasn’t already customizable enough, Opera’s theme system has also received a major update. The new skins are easier to design than ever before, and just about any Opera user should be able to create one.Like Mozilla, Opera has been tinkering with the address bar to make it easier for users to tell when they’re on a secure site. It’s hoped that the more prominent badges will help users avoid spoofed sites and phishing scams.Mixed in with all the additions, bug fixes, and tweaks, one classic Opera features has been removed: widgets. They’ve offered Opera users a way to run web-based gadgets on their desktop for ages, but Opera has decided it’s time for developers to fully embrace the newer extension platform — which allows widget-like functionality on the Speed Dial page. Unite, which first debuted in Opera 10 just a couple years ago, has also been axed.To take Opera 12 for a test drive, head over to Opera Next. It’s speedy, stable, and very competitive with other top browsers.More at Opera Next
Maurizio Sarri claims he didn’t snub Pep Guardiola after Chelsea’s 6-0 mauling in the hands Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The Blues were condemned to their heaviest loss in Premier League history and their worst in any competition since 1991.And the former Napoli manager revealed the opening goal ruined the game plan and credited Guardiola’s men.“We’ll need to find the explanation for all this over the next few hours,” Sarri told Football Italia via Sky.“My sensations before kick-off were good, as they were during the week. We conceded a stupid goal in the opening minutes that affected us for the whole game.“Manchester City play fantastic football and I saw an extraordinary team. We had a total blackout.”Someone knows they’re on their way to get sacked #Sarri #MCICHE pic.twitter.com/Eh5fbDfYK5Sarri: “Cristiano Ronaldo is the strongest player in the world” Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Maurizio Sarri has no doubts that Cristiano Ronaldo is the main man at Juventus, and plans to the star give more freedom to exploit his talents to their fullest extent.— Mr_Brown (@Mr_Brown__) February 10, 2019Sarri insists he didn’t see his City counterpart Guardiola after the encounter as he rejected snub claims.“I just didn’t see Pep, as at that moment I just wanted to go into the dressing room. Then, as I always do, I went to salute him afterwards.”There are inevitably questions around Sarri’s future after this historic 6-0 result.“Matches like this can leave a mark. It won’t be easy to get back on our feet after this. Football is also made of heavy defeats. At half-time, I told the lads that if we were able to react, we’d come back stronger than ever.”Sarri was asked if he was expecting a call from patron Roman Abramovich, but the answer pointed towards the power structure at Chelsea.“If the President calls, I’ll be happy, seeing as I never hear from him. To be honest, I don’t know what to expect.”

The Federal Aviation Administration has dropped a controversial airspace restriction over Vancouver’s Pearson Field, handing a victory to the city and others who lobbied- against it.The FAA notified the city of that decision this week, according to Pearson airport manager Willy Williamson. The move comes two months after the federal agency convened a special panel to review the shared airspace between Pearson and Portland International Airport. Ultimately, the panel decided to leave the arrangement basically unchanged.“It really ended up being a win-win situation,” Williamson said, noting Pearson will continue to operate as is with the latest federal sign-off.“That keeps the airport viable-, and it keeps tens of thousands of dollars coming to the local economy,” Williamson- said.Last September, the FAA floated a proposed rule change that would have restricted local flights in and out of Pearson. The so-called “Pearson box” rule would have created an area one mile wide by six miles long in which Pearson pilots would have to yield to larger airliners approaching PDX from the west.FAA officials maintained that the proposal was crafted with safety in mind. But local pilots and others pushed back, forcing a delay of the proposed rule change before its planned October implementation. Members of the Northwest’s Congressional delegation also leaned on the FAA to put the brakes on the seemingly fast-tracked change. That included U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, who praised this week’s developments.“This resolution brings welcome relief for the local pilots, and the local businesses and workers supported by the economic activity from Pearson Air Field,” Herrera Beutler said in a released statement. “I appreciate the FAA’s willingness to reassess the safety and economic implications of its proposal, and consider more reasonable solutions.”
BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The mother of a baby shot dead in his stroller took one look at a teenage suspect’s jailhouse mugshot Saturday and said he was definitely the killer. Yet an aunt of the teen said he was eating breakfast with her when the slaying took place.Despite the conflicting stories, police have charged 17-year-old De’Marquise Elkins with murder, along with a 14-year-old suspect whose name has been withheld because he’s a juvenile.Brunswick police spokesman Todd Rhodes said even though Elkins’ aunt provided an alibi, authorities have good reason to bring the charges.“That’s what she’s saying, but the evidence we’re looking at says something else,” Rhodes said, though he would not elaborate. Also Saturday, police in this coastal port city released 911 recordings from neighbors who sobbed and pleaded for help right after 13-month-old Antonio Santiago was shot in the head a few blocks from his mother’s apartment.Sherry West said she was pushing her baby in his stroller as she walked home from the post office Thursday morning. She said a teenager, with a younger boy behind him, approached and asked her for money. West said when she told him she had no money, the teen drew a gun and said: “Do you want me to kill your baby?”The gunman opened fire and West was shot in the leg, while another bullet grazed her left ear, she said. She watched helplessly as the gunman shot her son in the face, she said.

According to BlueCrest CEO Benjamin Johnson the $525 million project for BlueCrest has spent roughly $400 million and is expecting the other $125 million back from the state. But, the company has only received $27 million back in tax credits, and caused the company to take an ‘operational pause’ in order to obtain additional funding. Senate Bill 176; “An Act establishing the Alaska Tax Credit Certificate Bond Corporation; relating to purchases of tax credit certificates; relating to overriding royalty interest agreements; and providing for an effective date.” Companies like BlueCrest who started their Cosmopolitan project out in Anchor Point based on a partnership proposed by the state in 2014. The state promised billions of dollars in tax credits to smaller oil and gas companies between 2003 and 2017. But when petroleum prices plunged, the state could no longer afford to pay the credits. According to text written within the bill the debt is estimated to be be closer to $1 billion once the expected applications are submitted this year. SB 176 remains in the Senate Resources Committee as of this morning. Governor Walker signed HB111, a bill ending cash credits, into law at the end of July in 2017. The state has been paying only the minimum amount on what it owes in tax credits to companies for the past several years, but as of December 31, the state owes $806 million in credits.
Kanhaiya Kumar (C) addresses students and activists at Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi on March 3, 2016. ICHANDAN KHANNA/AFP/Getty ImagesOne of the many interesting battles that were fought in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was between young CPI politician and former JNU president Kanhaiya Kumar and BJP veteran Giriraj Singh from the Begusarai constituency in Bihar. Despite Kanhaiya campaigning vividly in his hometown with the help of may left-leaning celebrities of Bollywood, including Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Swara Bhasker and Prakash Raj, Kanhaiya was heavily trailing behind Singh with a margin of over 1 lakh votes as of 12.30 pm.Begusarai was a keenly watched Lok Sabha constituency especially when Singh had earlier opposed BJP’s directions on contesting from there. Both Singh and Kanhaiya belong to the upper caste Hindu community from the area. Singh was expected to garner all the votes of Bhumiar community. The constituency, with a population of 4.5 lakh voters, got further divided especially when the Rashtriya Lok Dal party headed by Tejaswi Yadav refused to join hands with Kanhaiya and instead fielded a Muslim candidate, Tanveer Hassan. It further divided the vote share and easily took away the Muslim vote back from Kanhaiya. BJP leader Giriraj Singh.IANS fileBoth Kanhaiya and Singh represented the extreme left and right ideologies. While Singh is notorious for making statements of sending anti-national people to Pakistan, Kanhaiya was earlier charged with sedition during the JNU campus protests a few years ago.Nevertheless, despite Kanhaiya’s oratory skills, crowdfunding campaign and star backing, he could not win from Begusarai although he may have built a strong foundation for CPI among the young voters.
A lot of the enjoyment about Harry Potter stems from how J.K. Rowling uses the characters’ unique personalities to form distinct groups. Whether it’s the house you would be sorted into or your wand, your magic is tied to who you are, and that only adds to the fantasy.Pottermore has capitalized on this fun by allowing you to take an official sorting house quiz for both Hogwarts and Ilvermorny. Now, you can figure out what your Patronus is thanks to a new quiz experience.I say “experience” because it’s not a quiz in the same way that the others ask you questions about your personality. In the new Pottermore feature, released Thursday, users can travel through a 3D animated forest set to an original score, choosing from a list of words that best appeal to them. The Patronus, which is a defensive spell that can be used to fight dementors and appears as an ethereal animal protector, is unique to each individual. While some characters in the books could share a Patronus (Harry and his dad both had a stag), it’s usually something representative of the characters’ personalities. For the user, it’s chosen for the user based on the words you choose and the amount of time you take to make your decision. Some that have been discovered so far are white mares, ospreys, blackbirds, dragonflies, stags, adders, and foxes. There are also multiple breeds of cats and dogs, including the Borzoi, which is a Russian wolfhound and is what I got when I took the quiz.Patronuses can be any animal both regular and magical, according to Pottermore, although it’s more rare to receive a magical beast. The experience was made with input from Rowling herself, so if there’s going to be any official Patronus selector, it would be this one. It’s unclear exactly how the animal is calculated and how your word choices and time frame measure in the decision. It’s fun nonetheless, and another way to pretend that even though you were supposed to get your Hogwarts owl 15 years ago, it maybe just got lost in the mail and you’re still destined for magic. We can dream. You need an account on Pottermore to take the quiz. You can only go through the experience once. After that, your Patronus is linked to your profile, along with your school house and your wand.

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A new 540-room hotel has been given construction approval in the municipality of Soildaridad. The company Vadjavari SA de CV has received a green light to develop a hotel complex at Punta Maroma north of Playa del Carmen.
