The sudden announcement came at Thursday’s board meeting, and was met with some cheers from attendees. This comes on the heels of past bullying claims from a former classmate of his; which garnered national media attention. Hindt has strongly denied the allegations.Below is video of the former classmate, Greg Barrett, accusing Hindt of bullying when they were junior high school students. He was speaking during a public forum at a March 19 Katy ISD work study board meeting.“In light of an organized, relentless, and dishonest smear campaign against me, I cannot remain as superintendent of Katy ISD,” said Hindt, during his resignation announcement at Thursday’s meeting. “My family is now my number one priority. They are innocent bystanders. This malicious campaign against me is hurting them severely and I cannot allow it any further.”The Katy ISD board unanimously voted Thursday to pursue a defamation suit on behalf Hindt.
